1000% the Sinn

dingonugget

Sinn.

TheHomersapien

One of those is meant to do work, the other is meant to draw attention and elicit compliments.

incognito_joee

I've owned a U50 and Panerais, although not a Submersible, and I would say it depends on your style. Also, no one will notice the Sinn except other watch nerds, but some muggles will notice the Panerai. Personally, I like both.

guyonabuffalo20

Unless you really like the design language of the Panerai, go with the Sinn. Great tech, materials, and craftsmanship.

Thedarktwo1

Really depends on what you want the watch for, plus there is a considerable price difference. Can only really comment on the U50 as I have one. I bought it as my daily beater watch. I wanted a good watch, which I wasn't afraid to use or get scraped. It's really striking in its own unique way. Very rugged, can take a hell of a beating, still haven't put one mark on mine after almost a year. Now the tegimented steel isn't as shiny, it's quite dull, so if you're looking something more flashy, this isn't it. If you can, try it on to see how it suits.

wp-reddit

U50, always. The Pam looks nice but it's not worth the price.

pizza105z

You don’t like the Sinn H link?!?! 0_o mad man!!!!

geheim_hinterhalt

I have a U50 Pro and love it. The panerai is super nice looking and I’m sure it’ll do the job. Just depends on what look you like best. My U50 is extremely comfy: light weight and great size. If you are military it will blend in with your gear and not get in the way.

Basabose

Sinn for me, better watch.

02gixxersix

Love Sinn and the U50, but Pam for sure if you don't care about the extra cost. Much more unique and interesting watch IMO.

JimmyV64

I'd definitely save yourself some money and go with the Sinn.

Sooky102

What kind of work are you doing while wearing it? Is it going to possibly get nicked up during manual labor, etc…? If so, I’d opt for the Sinn. If not, whatever you like 👍🏻

StatisticianRare

Tactical / Military etc. I’m bored of gshocks and want something “fun”

I'd be worried about that massive crown guard on the Pam digging into my hand for that application. Haven't tried on the Pam, but was impressed with the way the U50 sat on my wrist when I tried it on.

Sooky102

I’ve worn my Sinn U1 for the last 18 years of my current 28 year LEO career. It’s seen/been through some crazy shit and has held up 👍🏻

StatisticianRare

That’s great to hear!

CtFshd

You are asking this in a sinn forum....... all have sinned and fallen short. Honestly though, it really depends on how under or on the radar you want to be. The sinn U50 definitely goes under, and if you live in a place where crime is a concern, it could be a consideration. If you want to impress (especially to non-watchgeeks), then maybe the pam might be worth a shot. I'm not going to comment on the water resistance since if that is REALLY going to be used, you will have decided long ago.

AdDistinct3849

The comments on your Panerai thread are the exact same with the watches flipped XD

StatisticianRare

Hahah I know. My plan miserably failed of getting opinions from people that may have both watches instead each community just brought out its die hard fans. I may have to buy both.

dread_beard

PAMs are Sinn quality (some are below, frankly) at PAM pricing. Sinns are Sinn quality at Sinn pricing.

andreas_chr1st

I'd go PAM. Not necessarily better and definitely not vfm, just a more iconic design.

SnooGadgets4267

I like both but as someone else had already said the Sinn will fly well under the radar. Personally I don't like have watches on me that I have to worry about going anywhere. I picked up the u50T recently and the silicon band with the full deployment clasp just destroyed my wrist. I have smallish wrist and band was either to big or too small. It left some pretty bad marks on my wrist. I tried everything to make it work and when it felt secure like I normally like on my wrist within and hour it felt like a torture device, no kidding. The clasp to me is way too large. I got the T Bracelet and it's not my most comfortable bracelet but its a million times more comfortable then the silicone. Maybe the small clasp would be more comfortable? I don't know.

SnooDoughnuts1946

I commented on the Panerai sub and will do so here as well. I own both brands and you can’t go wrong here no matter what you choose. Without knowing what other pieces you have and wear it’s tough to say. For me, if willing to spend more and buy used the Panerai would be my choice.

StatisticianRare

I currently have an omega speedmaster, Tudor BB58, and Longines HydroConquest.

SnooDoughnuts1946

Great pieces and great brands. Something tells me that at some point you will have both a Sinn and a Panerai. Go with whichever speaks to you and your budget the most. Let us know once you secure.

StatisticianRare

Yea I think you may be right. Might just get both and round out a 5 watch collection. What have I done 🫣

GooseDog667

Sinn all day

Ordinary_Problem_817

Not sure about Panerai, I’ve owned neither, but for me it’d be the Sinn, I trust their build, the U50 hits the sweet spot for most wrists, it’s VERY slim and it built like a tank or even a submarine, using steel from that very same transport. Due to the materials it will resist corrosion to a very high degree and with the tegimented hard surface finishing, it will look as new for years to come. This watch will slip easily under a cuff and yet take 500 metres of water pressure, which although irrelevant, just shows the sheer build. For some it has unusual looks, but for me it looks great. I personally would have it with the sdr bezel, that is also super tough, but it gives a cool stealthy look. For me, it’s the one to go for, it’ll be brand new and will outlast you. I’m jealous….. just make me proud and just get it!

Terence_Yam

U1. I’d pay for 1000m than 500m.

StatisticianRare

Well both depth ratings are well beyond my diving capabilities and 41 vs 44mm watch size is a massive difference.

Gwfr3ak

True, the U1 is a big watch. I would recommend to try both of them though... I have pretty average male wrists and I really like the U1. It wears way smaller than the 44 mm might suggest, due to the typical diver design (large bezel, small/average dial) and the pretty conservative lug to lug distance. The one thing you really have to consider with the U1 is weight. A U1 on bracelet is heavy. Then again, I paid for the U-Boat steel - I want the U-Boat steel. It is pretty much a matter of application. I use it as a weekender and I want to feel that I am wearing it. As a daily driver I wear a lightweight titanium watch...

StatisticianRare

Good points. I’ll look into the U1 as well.
