They look good to me, I like to add texture paint to mine before I prime them so crystals/skulls and such get a bursting from the ground/half burried look, and I can paint them to match the rest of the base.
I personally think they look good for heros. For regular chaos warriors it's a bit overkill. Not because they are poorly executed, because they are not (you need some texture over the cork though), but it will look weird when they are on the table and when they are way higher than any other model your opponent brings.
If they are only for display then go wild and make 10-20 of them :D

Hand prime the cork, so the paint isn't absorbed, and it will be great. They look awesome.
