Regalar copas? A los unicos que les regalan copas son a los Chilenos, mas robo a Uruguay imposible en 2015. Dejen de llorar un poco y dejen de vivir del pasado.
When I used to watch the Libertadores I thought the Argentinian and Uruguayan sides used to butcher the Brazilian teams to get us rattled. Then I watched one game fromt he Argentinian league and found out they also do it to themselves literally all of the time.
The tantrum wasn't really defending his case, it was mostly wasting as much time as possible to get it to penalty kicks since they were a man down. He was trying to get to extra time as quick as possible
He was literally trying to argue with the ref after he went into the VAR replay and saw him butcher Rodrygo. He was relly trying to argue with the images.
He did touch the ball softly, but then went full power into the ankle. Not a bad red, but I wonder if the ref saw the angle that shows the ball being touched before the decision.
To buy as many seconds for his team as possible, and because it is his moral duty to do so. In South American football you have to argue every referee decision no matter how blatant the foul. It is an imperative.
Idk guys, maybe he actually thought he got the ball, or there was no contact. Rodrygo was lucky his foot was off the ground, no resistance to the tackle, but maybe that's exactly why Nandez didn't register the hit with his own foot (no resistance to it)
I'd love to see his reaction when they show the replay to him lol
After 25 cards that were not given (to both sides, BTW), Uruguay finally finds the limit of a lenient referee.
That said, they still have a good chance to win.
The fact that players are INCREDULOUS after getting reds for tackles like that never ceases to amaze me.
Like really? This is the hill you're gonna die on lmao
To buy as many seconds for his team as possible, and because it is his moral duty to do so. In South American football you have to argue every referee decision no matter how blatant the foul. It is almost a Kantian imperative in our football.
That stuff is not easy to see live sometimes. The contact was heavy but at full speed it happens REALLY fast and you have to be sure the studs made the contact and it wasn’t like a trip or anything.
That’s especially true when players at that level love to throw themselves to the floor and act as if every challenge is a leg breaker. This is why VAR is so helpful.
He’s Argentinian of course he’s letting that go to screw Brasil. Brasil had two games with Argentine refs. The other was vs Colombia with the no pk call 🤔
Pretty annoying have to come to reddit to see replays since they refuse to replay anything on the stadium big screens. Thanks u/50lipa lol
Also, man that was bad.
Uruguay are playing better football under Bielsa but they're still a real dirty, whiny team when it comes down to it.
Gimenez should've gotten a yellow for how he talked to the ref too

Yep, that's a red card alright
For how favorable of a matchup this was…Uruguay is *undeniably* not making the most of it…
That was a very bright red card.
Imagine tackling violently enough to get a red card at the Copa America
That’s how you know you’ve taken it too far
“It was at that moment, I knew I fucked up”
[Record scratch] “Yep, that’s me. You’re probably wondering how I got here. It all started when … “
"Still gonna deny, deny, deny, though."
Yellow. Jail. Red. in that order.
Has to either make someone bleed or almost break someone's leg
The way god intended

News article from 8 years ago blaming the losing team instead of the refereeing

Got his ass
And he was arguing with the ref when he got the yellow
But ref! I played for Boca and Peñarol! I should be allowed to take an ankle home!
It's a gift for my daughter ref, she loves broken ankles
EURO refs are so different compared to Copa America
Copa America has always been a more physical region than Europe, it’s not new
When I used to watch the Libertadores I thought the Argentinian and Uruguayan sides used to butcher the Brazilian teams to get us rattled. Then I watched one game fromt he Argentinian league and found out they also do it to themselves literally all of the time.
I recommend LeoMDQ on Youtube.
a sliding scissor tackle is considered a polite greeting in argentina
Europeans can be violent if they are poor enough.
Was such a wild contrast seeing Mariani from Italy as the ref in Colombia-Panama right before.
uruguay being uruguay
This guy will have a Netflix series.
Netflix did Society of the Snow. I'd be surprised we get seconds.
What's Uruguayan for butcher?
Rústico, leñador, patadura, Paolo Montero.
Montero gonna teach the Juve kids how to murder the other team, they need some proper Grinta. Hopefully his kid turns out alright
my favorite phenomenon in football is players throwing a tantrum over getting sent off for the worst tackle you've ever seen in your life
Second only to them shooting the ball for the upteenth time from forty yards out and looking shocked it ballooned over the crossbar
😦 *runs hands across face and hair* 😮💨
lol that’s always the reaction. Like they just barely missed it wide and didn’t hit someone 25 rows up.
🙋🏾 "My fault"
fred loved doing that at man united LMAO
Sound like someone who stopped playing after primary school.
Relax bud, I know losing to Panama isn’t easy but you’ll make it back… someday.
Nobody in the US calls it primary school, so that commenter is likely not American lmao
Maybe in 2026 but I have little faith.
If I was the ref, I'd politely take him to the VAR screen and tell him to judge it himself
Being caught is apparently more humiliating than committing the act itself
Here's an expert on our culture.
The tantrum wasn't really defending his case, it was mostly wasting as much time as possible to get it to penalty kicks since they were a man down. He was trying to get to extra time as quick as possible
People do it with crimes when there's undeniable proof, just human being stupid
Remember araujo took 5 minutes to leave after his red against psg. Like bro just leave already
It´s exècted from them.
Son crying after a blatant red is my personal favorite.
This is the worst tackle youve seen in your life? Either this is your first match you have seen or you just recovered your sight
Is this your first time encountering the rhetorical device that is hyperbole
To be honest, he shouldn't have gotten booked for that.
To be honest, you’re not the brightest.
That’s a clear red what are you on about?
Haha what?! That's a stonewall red card
Bro actually was dumbfounded that he was getting a yellow in first place lmao
He was saying to the ref that he touched the ball... I mean, he felt Rodrygo's ankle and believes it was the ball. Lol
And yet players argue with the ref after every single call. Pretty sure he was just whining.
I think Nandez is crazy enough to genuinely believe he didn't touch Rodrygo
He was literally trying to argue with the ref after he went into the VAR replay and saw him butcher Rodrygo. He was relly trying to argue with the images.
It´s their duty to do so.
He did touch the ball softly, but then went full power into the ankle. Not a bad red, but I wonder if the ref saw the angle that shows the ball being touched before the decision.
no one here realizes that he got the ball first.
Even if he got the ball wouldn’t it be flagged for being a dangerous and unnecessary tackle?
Funniest part was that he went to Rodrygo, insulted him and told him to get up that he didn’t touch him lmaooo
The clown refused to leave and was arguing with the ref about the red for a while too... Infuriating
My guess is he was trying to buy time for the team to re-group. It's not like he thought the ref would change his mind
To buy as many seconds for his team as possible, and because it is his moral duty to do so. In South American football you have to argue every referee decision no matter how blatant the foul. It is an imperative.
To be fair he probably thought he was untouchable after the 50+ fouls and only 2 yellows they've received.
Idk guys, maybe he actually thought he got the ball, or there was no contact. Rodrygo was lucky his foot was off the ground, no resistance to the tackle, but maybe that's exactly why Nandez didn't register the hit with his own foot (no resistance to it) I'd love to see his reaction when they show the replay to him lol
he did get the ball though. It's hard to see on this replay but it is possible if you slow it down. other angles make it clear he got the ball
Lucky Rodrigo ankle didn’t snap
How did he keep playing? Insane.
Would have been a damn shame
After 25 cards that were not given (to both sides, BTW), Uruguay finally finds the limit of a lenient referee. That said, they still have a good chance to win.
Clearest red I've seen in a while
Fun fact: the Uruguayan TV said "well it might be a red card" only well after the VAR asked a review by the main referee.
He must’ve mistaken him for his girlfriend.
a esa no le va tan suave
😭
☠️
Dudeeeeeeeeeeeeee
AH! Mierda! Te fuiste a la mierda!
Horrific tackle and had the nerve to continue pleading his innocence, even after the video review
That’s an ankle breaker
Bout broke his ankle
Nandez is a fucking idiot
Who was playing in the Serie A?
Those two aren’t mutually exclusive
Deserved
That replay was scary. Stupid tackle.
A red card finally happened?
What the hell is he complaining about
How tf is he walking after that
way too late and wayyyyyy too high, it's horrific.
Brother why the fuck not just go for the ball
He got there late.
He got the ball? Was a foul but he did get card
Mad challenge
How're you gonna argue that. Absolutely shocking tackle
Deserved, reckless tackle could have done a lot of damage.
And he was even complaining that first it was a yellow lol, clear red.
Kevin Ortega not here this time Nandez
Criminal challenge.
How could you even complain? It deserved 2 red cards if it is allowed. Rodrygo was lucky that his ankle is till intact
Ankle breaker
And he's been arguing for the past 5 minutes about this. Insane.
Más bostero que un corsa tuneado
Fuck this guy
Uruguay hacking at opposing players not new and always ridiculous
Idiotic challenge
Obvious red card
The fact that players are INCREDULOUS after getting reds for tackles like that never ceases to amaze me. Like really? This is the hill you're gonna die on lmao

And he was trying to argue it wasn’t even a yellow lmao
Definitely one of the more obvious reds.
How this game is going, it was only a matter of time someone would get a red card. Wouldn't be surprised if there's more coming. Ugly game
Textbook red, get fucked you absolute terrorists
I didn't know he was French or English.
Football terrorism has no borders
[удалено]
Pretty sure that’s other countries, more east
Every country is east of you try hard enough.
What kind, State terrorism or Tupamaro terrorism?
Deserved
Lol he's arguing with the ref
Silly challenge
Deserved red, what an idiot
Good use of VAR
Studs up tackle from behind with contact on the ankle? That’s a red.
Todo pelota
Way to high, def red Honestly can’t believe the ref didn’t see it in the first place
That stuff is not easy to see live sometimes. The contact was heavy but at full speed it happens REALLY fast and you have to be sure the studs made the contact and it wasn’t like a trip or anything. What a fucking idiot
Guy is pleading his case like he didn’t almost break an ankle. Clear red
Clear red.
Give them all a yellow for protesting. Such a clear red card and they are still protesting.
Leg breaker chalenge, and it wasnt even necessary to foul Rodrygo there.
Is there a card worse than red?
Didnt matter anyway cuz in those 20 min with +1 on the field brasil couldnt do shit, as expected ofc
Endrick has been a punching bag all game.
Rodrygo is lucky that didn’t result in a massive injury. Surprised he’s still on the field
So, so fucking dangerous. And he knew what he was doing. Going in full force with studs up - he definitely wasn't going for the ball
he actually gets the ball first, you can even see it in this angle. other angles make it quite clear he gets the ball
Pretty annoying have to come to reddit to see replays since they refuse to replay anything on the stadium big screens. Thanks u/50lipa lol Also, man that was bad.
yea that's a rojo
🟥 OUT
That's not just a yellow, that's a darkshaded red, wtf?!
Yep. Red.
URUGUAY NOMA
Uruguay are playing better football under Bielsa but they're still a real dirty, whiny team when it comes down to it. Gimenez should've gotten a yellow for how he talked to the ref too
Bielsa is always about making their team burn their stamina and run and keep running so their love for kicking the shit out of you sorta complements
Dirty? No. They’re very physical and pay the price for that at times. Whiny? Absolutely, probably #1 in this category.
Finally one of Uruguay’s dirty plays gets punished appropriately instead of a slap on the wrist.
Which other play in this game warranted a red?
De La Cruz getting grabbed by the neck and taken down on a header … oh wait … never mind.
That’s a disgusting tackle. Should be a 3 game ban minimum.
This guy was trash all game
He was one of our better players...
Butchers..
Game’s gone
Took this long to give a red to Uruguay, they should have several at this point
Fuck that. Get him off the field and his crying ass. Those tackles can end careers.
What is this crazy ass link
That was a dirty tackle. Luckily it didn’t end worse
dumbfuck uraguay fans actually arguing this isn’t a red LMAO
Who? We all know it was a red.
Every time I watch Uruguay play. It’s always some dirty shit going on.
Jesus soccer players are the most insufferable athletes. They make officiating the game ten times harder.
Yeah fuck that guy. Should’ve gotten a red early against USA.
[удалено]
Below the knee lol wtf
straight leg with excessive force on Rodrygo's planted leg
Below the knee??? Lmao what?
Don't know why you are talking about below the knee, but going for the ankles is probably the most dangerous thing you can do to a player.
