I grew up loving clark bars. Gramma would always have a couple hidden away somewhere for if I was anything other than a hellion.

Gramma was from the depression, and was stoic as fuck when it came to dolling out affection. But little things like that kept popping up to 100% prove how much she really did care for us. She just couldn't ever put it in words.

They've had an unsuccessful run in Texas. Lots of stores pop up, all fold after a year or two. Krispy Kreme is going through the tail end of the cycle now with stores closing. Tim Hortons are just starting expansion.
Texas has it's own chains that dominate. Endorsing the others may bring a quick payday, but just added ridicule of fans that would actually see the commercials.
I think that’s the same reason why it took so long for Dunkin to come to California, besides the supply chain restrictions. LA specifically has had a ton of Dunkin’s pop up in the last decade but I don’t remember how many have lasted.
There’s just too many independent Cambodian- owned donut shops that make far better donuts. And Winchell’s.
Southeast Texan here and there’s been a Dunkin Donuts in Beaumont since the early 90s. A few years ago a second one popped up. We only go for the coffee, our donuts come from local places
Buccees does do breakfast. Shipley’s is the main donut chain, but most people I know go to local donut shops or taco stands. Kolaches are also popular and available at most local donut shops.
The Cambodian doughnuts kept it out of CA for a while. Pretty interesting story.

In all honesty. I think when Duncan played, Dunkin donuts was more of a north east US thing since it started in Mass. They didn't even really break into California market until the mid 2010s I think. Even now the entire state of Texas has 226 locations. For reference the state of Connecticut has over 450 and it's the size of Texas left testicle.

The price of cocoa this year hit all time highs. In May, a metric ton was trading for over $12k when a year ago it was closer to $3.2k. It’s come down but it’s still trading at close to $8k. Sugar has also been up in the last year but is starting to stabilize. The harvest for cocoa next year is more promising but there will still be pressure on the price of cocoa. Chocolate candy will get more expensive, unfortunately.
