Craig Federighi also name-dropped Apollo too. It’s easily one of the premier iOS apps and Apple loves to promote it as such.

dragonsnap_

Probably because it’s one of the best uses of SwiftUI and looks almost native to Apple’s own apps. The developer also seems to use Apple’s promoted API’s - i.e. Live Actions, creative use of the Dynamic Island.

masterhogbographer

He had the pets for dynamic island rolled out in like 4-5 days after launch of dynamic island *and it was based off a suggestion from a user iirc* so it isn’t like he had the idea in the pipeline Could be wrong but that’s the memory I have of u/iamthatis and the dynamic island announcement

The dev worked at Apple prior to developing Apollo so it wouldn’t surprise me that he makes one of the best non-Apple iOS apps.

I switched to the reddit app because of some broken posts on Apollo, but now that they're trying to effectively push out third party apps I will quit reddit if they force Apollo out the door.

I'm sure they've done tons of market research in whether or not the digital eyes are harmful to the product's success. Eyes are an important part of communication. Since these are meant to be used out in public and in the vicinity of others, an approachable design makes its existence more viable in these settings.

3_50

Overall impressed, but yeah that bit felt like a parody. Super tone deaf. Would have thought they should have aimed for more 'put it on this headstand at the side of the room while your kid blows out their birthday candles, and relive that memory in 3D'....

ButtholeCandies

What I find worrying is that the new generation already lives like this. When you are at a concert that skews to that 18-25 demographic, all you see is people watching the concert through their phone screen because they have to record it or live stream it. Will the generation that comes up in 5-7 years find this to be an improvement because you are more "present"? Scary shit if you see how addicted some kids are to their smart devices because the parents handed them the iPad since they were toddlers and the kids brain is wired to have the attention span of a goldfish.

artix111

What generation? I am 31 and the same happens at concerts people go around my age by the people around that age, it’s not just the new generation. Also I der more and more elderly people use phones excessively, it’s wild.

artillarygoboom

Same age here, and I was using my phone to film things and would catch myself viewing the thing happening right in front of me, through my phone screen instead. Ended up not using my phone to catch anything anymore. Someone else can do it and I can show people their video instead. My video sucks anyways. I am going through this experience with my parents where I feel like they're children and I'm having to teach them how to navigate technology. They believe like everything written on the internet. And are constantly on their phones.

3_50

>...for this discovery of yours [writing] will create forgetfulness in the learners’ souls, because they will not use their memories; they will trust to the external written characters and not remember of themselves. - Plato, putting words in the mouth of Socrates I wouldn't worry too much.

heyjunior

People with phones at concerts have been an issue for many years.

Konukaame

>that 18-25 demographic It's not limited to that, by a long shot. I've been to more formal orchestra and band concerts that skews significantly older, and the audience is still lit up with phones. Plus the handful of super-assholes who turn on the goddam *video flash* and light up four rows ahead of them.

Philipp

It felt like the beginning of a Black Mirror episode.

youngchul

That episode is called 'The Entire History of You'.

finger_milk

Then the kid dies suddenly and some special tech lab can take the father's recordings and transplant it into a new consciousness on his phone. It's as if she never died.

TawnyTeaTowel

You’re clearly not old enough to remember birthdays with a parent stuck behind a massive VHS video camera…

Mclarenf1905

And yet anytime I go to a concert or live event now seemingly half the people there are watching the concert through their phone because they feel the need to livestream pr record the concert in full to "rexperience" it again later. I get it to a point, I've recorded an opening or closing set a few times before later realizing I never once went back to watch them, even years later and it just made the real in person experience more shallow, both for me and the people around me. Unfortunately I only see the trend increasing not decreasing, this could be a cool productivity device (although the price tag is not very friendly) but it just looks like yet another bit of technology alienating us from the human in person experience so that we can later pretend we were there in the moment years later rather than cherishing the time and relying on our memory and a few photos to stimulate them. But who knows maybe I'm just that grumpy old fart now yelling kids these days.

[deleted]

I went to see Puscifer a few nights ago and they had a strict no photos/videos rule (except for the final song) and it made the whole experience so much better.

utkarsh_aryan

Well it first gen high end model. It's mostly for developers, tech enthusiasts and early adopters. I expect them to improve and refine a lot of features with second gen. Just look at first gen Apple Watch vs the current one. They might even introduce a non-pro model at a lower price point.

Interdimension

I was wondering about the "Pro" label too. That definitely implies that a non-Pro model with a lower price tag will arrive eventually. As much as I don't care for VR and think this one's going overboard with it, Apple has the best chance of making it mainstream regardless. Given how much the Apple Watch itself changed over the years (from being about smaller iPhone & fashion accessory to full-blown Fitbit competitor with health as its main focus), we don't know what Vision Pro's gonna end up being in just a few years.

sightlab

As someone who held off on ever really considering a tablet (why do I need an oversized phone/underpowered laptop??) until the 2nd gen pencil arrived AND NOW find my ipad to be an indispensable tool for actual, professional illustration, I'm encouraged by the claims they make for this first generation - in a few years, will my $1500 apple headset let me sculpt in blender intuitively with my paws or let me draw as I do on the ipad but on any size canvas I need, on any surface? Design posters at real poster size? I'm intrigued by the concept and Apple's execution which is USUALLY both a) not quite what they claim, yet still b) flawless. For now I have a PSVR2 I'm really enjoying but the idea of actually working in it (it's a GAME PERIPHERAL after all...) doesnt exactly sound fun.

Impossible_Garbage_4

Why did you say paws

vantways

I think the point they're trying to sell is that in a few years consumers will be using devices like these for daily tasks (unlikely in my opinion, but that's apple's overall goal/pitch here). The pitch on this first iteration would then be to sell the product to the people who will make the apps that consumers will want to use and thus buy the headset for. Essentially "we made a new market with little-to-no existing competition, all you have to do is make a client app that works in AR space." For a "professionals" pitch, I imagine apple will announce peripherals - mouse/keyboard system, extra power, whatever - and use that as a moment to talk about all the "wow wouldn't it be cool to see your designs in AR" kinda things. I imagine for an initial reveal they just wanted the general wow-factor

dubzzzz20

I think you’re right that that is the market they are aiming for. That being said, I wish they had a partnership with Autodesk or some other Pro visualization company to show off some with. They spent like 10 seconds total showing 3D models which is honestly the only feature it has that can’t be done with a regular Mac.

The_Sad_horsie

CountryCaravan

To me, this isn’t a device I can get a sense for through a presentation video. It promises the moon on what it can do all in one device, but if I try it on and feel less comfortable simply browsing than I do on my other devices, it’ll still just be a luxury accessory. The question is if it can be more than that.

safemodegaming

Yeah, it has to truly work as a proper alternative to a tv, sound system and phone. That's what they literally marketed it as, so if they succeed at that, I can see it doing well enough.

virak_john

I guess. But does everyone want to watch tv alone?

safemodegaming

That's a really good point. If you're able to sync your devices to watch at the same time it'd be cool, but yet again we already have the perfect solution for that and it's way cheaper.

Gadooosh_ThereItIs

That feels dystopian picturing a family sitting in their living room not talking and watching their individual headsets

BilllisCool

That already happens with phones.

calcium

With all the tech onboard and this being a v1 product, it makes sense with that price. Also notice the 'pro' moniker - makes me think that they'll release a cheaper version later once they have more of the kinks worked out.

zapporian

For a specific example see the launch of the $800-1200 ipad pro, with features that all went mainstream on the air at a $400 pricepoint 3 years later. Same exact product + development strategy here – this device is for devs and enthusiasts, and will make sense (and with a real usecases and real apps) when the consumer version launches 3 years later. As is this looks "fun" if you want to pay $3500 for a premium disney+ experience, better facetime calls, and the ability to watch 3d films on what looks like *probably* the best personal 3d display on the market, bar none, and to be fair the ability to capture 3d video, with capabilities + user experience that looks straight out of The Peripheral. Overall this looks super impressive, but to say that most people might not *exactly* have a usecase for this yet, might be an understatement. As is I was almost surprised that this didn't launch w/ a demo / capability of on-device OCR and text translation, since that could be a killer feature (well, sans the obvious ridiculousness of walking around with one of these things on your head), for anyone traveling abroad. Esp given that macos + ios basically have that feature (more or less), on-device already. Overall, the displays, lenses, build quality, sensor suite, and dedicated R1 chip is *pretty much* clowning all over the build quality + engineering that goes into a quest pro / quest 3, lol Esp given that they just straight up put a M2 in there, and meta *seriously* has no way to directly compete with that. Definitely not a threat now given the price point (lol), but will be once / if this thing has any kind of demonstrated commercial potential, and apple launches a consumer version with *this* hardware (more or less) and a *much* more competitive price point in 3-ish years. Downside is this is still apple we're talking about, and they'll strangle the potential of this kind of device if they limit it to (and don't evolve from) a limited ios-esque user interface that was mostly just copied from the quest + WMR et al

hummelm10

This has more than double the ppi of the next best headset display (PSVR2). It’s definitely the best quality headset available.

utkarsh_aryan

Well it first gen high end model. It's mostly for developers, tech enthusiasts and early adopters. I expect them to improve and refine a lot of features with second gen. Just look at first gen Apple Watch vs the current one. They might even introduce a non-pro model at a lower price point.

Tumblrrito

HoloLens 2 is the same price. This isn’t just a VR headset.

00DEADBEEF

Hololens seems incredibly overpriced now

shadowthunder

You mean the device from four years ago, and that Microsoft stopped developing? I _hope_ something at the same price today would be better...

TheUmgawa

Well, now that you can compare it to an Apple device, it certainly does!

Eagles9450

Just watch any of the HoloLens launch videos (even from HoloLens 1) and you’ll see it looks identical in capability. HoloLens ended up not looking anything like the videos so the test will be if the Apple version actually stands up against the image they’ve shown today

red286

How many people do you know who own a HoloLens, not including the US DoD?

typesett

anti-nadroj

the tech in it is crazy and first gen, it’s not unreasonable

ser1992

Not that much money when considering the hardware.

ErikElevenHag

Finally I can sell my kidney for a new pair of eyes

Flimsy-Selection-609

Unlike your kidneys, it Will be obsolete in a few years

AdeptFelix

It's cool tech that's in it, I'm just struggling to find a good use case at this price point. Too expensive for mass market. Vendor lock in makes dev for it risky. Realistically, this shouldn't replace computer monitors (the 2 hour battery life, plus just how awful it would be for your eyes long term to do 8 hours a day in it). The only real use case I see is a company building something with it for internal use, which I feel like is all that ever really happened with HoloLens and makes even less sense coming from Apple.

thecheckisinthemail

These seem to be an example of an expensive solution in search of a problem. The only serious use cases I can see for these sorts of products is gaming, porn and very particular work applications. I imagine most everyone working on computers wants to be able to look away from the screen, whether it is to read something or look out a window. Whatever length Apple went to make that as natural as possible within these googles. They are still googles and that will be more difficult.

hummelm10

Honestly, this can basically be a laptop replacement for me. I remote into systems at work and since this runs iPad apps I have the ability to do that but with more monitors. If I just toss a keyboard and trackpad in my bag I can take it traveling since I can work remotely. It eliminates the 4 monitors I have at home that can’t take with me.

Drive7hru

Really surprised to not see immersive gaming advertised like oculus. Devs might be able to make it possible, but I thought they would have demoed at least one.

pulse14

The headset has two 5k displays, which I'd assume are over 90hz. The R1 only handles inputs, so the 3d rendering is going to be handled by an M2 CPU. It won't be able to play any moderately demanding video games.

mrsfeatherb0tt0m

I don’t need these. Guess I’ll be buying them.

TimedOutClock

I first chuckled when I saw the price of 3500$, but there's more tech in these goggles than there's in a goddamn tesla. I'll be checking the reviews first, but if you're living alone and want to replace your entire entertainment system with these, I don't see how it's a bad value, especially considering the fact that you can bring them anywhere with you. The only thing I'm annoyed with is the battery. 2 hours? Really? You need to allow for much longer sessions if you want this thing to have a chance to really take off.

TheTanelornian

Agreed with the 2 hours - that's not long enough for a long film. I can see a market in larger batteries developing, or maybe long leads for the sit-down-in-the-comfy-couch mode when its plugged in. Still, this is version 1. It's only going to get better and cheaper.

beanie_wells

I didn’t see close enough if it’s a USB-C cable? If so I can imagine plenty of cable extensions (and the ability to plug into a wall socket?)- I assumed they didn’t want to make people look limited in movement (tied down) for the presentation.

sureditch

Lol true but some VR headsets have to go into rest mode to cool down.

basedpogchamp

And 2 hours is the advertised life. So expect 1.5 hours

dubzzzz20

I’ll just say that Apple has been pretty good at battery estimates for their newer products. The new MacBooks especially are almost always underestimated in battery life as hard as that is to believe. I would expect that the 2 hour is actually either fairly accurate or an underestimate. That being said, 2 hour battery life is a joke.

Swing_Right

sebzim4500

RunnerBakerDesigner

I need these to fit like sunglasses before I'll consider it. Otherwise they look sweaty.

[deleted]

Asperothh

I’d have considered it for $1599, but $3500… Jesus that’s a lot. Maybe if it ~does~ catch on then I’ll be getting one once we’re in to gen 4/5.. but only if it replaces some of my other tech.

[deleted]

I think 3-5 years is probably the sweet spot where it will mature and become cheap enough for the casual consumer. Right now it’s an expensive toy for the rich, but this is not unusual for new tech. Unlike so many other headsets, this sets an incredibly high bar for resolution and motion tracking. Apple is moving the ball forward here.

00DEADBEEF

For a start it has two 5K displays. It was never going to be $1599.

utkarsh_aryan

Well it first gen high end model. It's mostly for developers, tech enthusiasts and early adopters. I expect them to improve and refine a lot of features with second gen. Just look at first gen Apple Watch vs the current one. They might even introduce a non-pro model at a lower price point.

[deleted]

[удалено]

baconcheeseburgarian

It's a Pro model so theres some suggestion that theres a lower end model coming that will be more consumer focused.

FrontwaysLarryVR

Yeah, this is a glorified development kit. People getting mad at $3500 need to just sit back and accept it isn't for them this time around, but a future model might be. Generally, this is fun to see unfold. It's like when the iPhone came along for the first time, seeing the discord of people saying we don't need it or they don't see the point. Some people will disagree, but AR can actually change the way we do things as long as developers think outside the box enough. EDIT: And just to clarify, this isn't me saying anyone even needs this, especially at this price. This is essentially me just imploring you to think of ways this can be applied instead of dismissing it as a dystopian dream. I won't get this device, but I'll be getting something similar when available for a more consumer ready price point, for sure.

brownarmyhat

I work in architecture/design and I can’t see how this device will end up replacing the traditional desktop. It offers some exciting additional experiences like being able to work/visualize in 3D from time to time. But everyday, in office work requires a level of visual comfort and physical awareness that VR negatively impacts. Even once they make the headset perfectly comfortable and adaptable to in-person communication, what will it do better than a computer+monitor set up to the point that it can replace it?

fizzlefist

It’s like getting mad at that $7000 Mac Pro. If it can perform even half as well as the video I/O that they stated, it’s going to be killer in professional spaces. 100% not aimed at normal consumers.

aSillyPlatypus

Bro they showed grandmas using this to talk to friends, Dads in the kitchen cooking with 3500 strapped to their face. They showed people in small apartments watching movies, they showed disney. they showed games. They showed sports statistics. THE FUCK U ON THIS ISNT TARGETED AT CONSUMERS?!

pieman3141

It's not for immediate consumers. They're selling a potential lifestyle/use case, using this as the initial enabling product. They're actually marketing it to industry folks in an Apple-ish sort of way.

typesett

nope personally, im curious on how this all works out over the next 5 years from a business standpoint im not getting one

baconcheeseburgarian

I usually wait a couple generations so the design gets more robust. First gen products are always plagued by teething issues.

typesett

agree sometimes they work seamlessly too compared to not having it at all ipod is an example iphones is another but the price was higher so it's hard to justify as far as i know, the apple watches have all worked as watches at minimum and displayed texts you got on your iphone \_\_ up to the person tho. i got the first ipod and i could not live without it at the time

CandyFromABaby91

Seems like one of those really cool devices for the first week, the a dust collector.

Flimsy-Selection-609

For that price, you better stop meeting your friends until it burns from overheating

kungfoojesus

Never count out apple, but VR devices just don’t seem important or viable to become a significant portion of anyone’s business. Reminds me of not only the several VR headsets that have come before but 3D TVs. I just don’t see the point here

PhilipLiptonSchrute

> but VR devices just don’t seem important or viable to become a significant portion of anyone’s business They're too clunky at the moment. The reason I never played my PSVR despite it being a solid piece of hardware was because it was a pain in the dick. If this thing is lightweight and can just be thrown on anywhere, it's got a chance.

anonymous_identifier

Um, it's supposed to go on your *head*, you know

baconcheeseburgarian

This is targeted at enterprise. It's more focused on AR than VR. They seem focused on productivity enhancements and less on gaming.

N0V0w3ls

My company makes me fill out a requisition form for a $200 second monitor.

DannyBiker

Then why didn't they show any image of it in a professional situation ?

gullydowny

So I’m not the only one reminded of 3D TVs, they were cool for two weeks

time_to_reset

What makes it feel so dystopian is that all these companies try to create the idea that we need/want to wear these things 24/7. There's this not-so-subtle undertone implying that you don't need anyone or anything in your life. Live in a dark, soulless little box with no windows. Have no friends, no relationships. Just put on your goggles to distract from the emptiness that is your existence. It's genuine Black Mirror stuff. Especially when you add in the concept of having to work strict hours inside the headset and the forced watching of ads.

Mental_Cheesecake_47

I've tried to use the "desktop" environment on my Oculus Quest's and Quest 2's. It was way to low resolution and were not comfortable to use as these headsets are too heavy, despite different styles of straps I've tried during the years. In addition to that it moves around to mush, and does not feel OK. I use a 48" 4k screen with my daily workstation, at about 80 cm distance. One the side of my desk I have my iPad pro for my notifications (workstations is Win). There is nothing that Oculus could do to replace that amount if info that I can sum up in from of me with that. Can Apple do this? Well, I had a Nokia before my first iPhone in 2008, I had low expectations back then on how practical an phone could be to pay bills, handle email, search maps and browsing. Apple changed that. I'll give it a try, and I hope that the secondhand value will be just as great as it was when I sold the old iPhone :) I guess -4k buy now, then +1k back when upgrading in 2024?

I feel the same about oculus.. I don’t see how people watch movies or work with them… especially for extended periods of time.. but this demo makes apple vision look like something on a totally different level. We will see if they live up to the hype but it’s kinda hard to bet against apple. If they say it’s capable of this and that then it’s most likely not exaggerated

EnUnLugarDeLaMancha

As someone who does not own a single Apple product and does not plan to (I'm an free software freak, sorry), I have got used to see the same reactions every time that Apple releases something interesting. People calling it stupid, expensive, useless...like so many "stupid" ideas that ended up begin adopted by competitors by the next year. Sorry, but it is damn obvious that Apple has got something right, and this is just a first version that will not look particularly good in a few years. This is completely different to what Zuckerberg was announcing as the future of VR. The fact that Apple controls the whole stack of their products plays once again in their advantage: They control the apps, the graphic toolkit, the window manager, the graphic cards they use and the APIs their drivers expose, there is nothing they don't control, so they can actually try to adapt their whole software stack (including cloud integration) to new environments like this one, and actually try to blend it with the real world (as much as the device allows) instead of separating you from it. Whereas Fakebook could only dream about moving you to a largely useless parallel world where you could get more ads. (It's kind of interesting that Zuckerberg missed the commercial success of chatgpt despite being a lead in the field and even providing some of the building blocks, now he is being surpassed on VR after spending many billions on it...surely investors must be happy with him!)

Monstance

I too do not own any apple products. I think based on what I saw the technology is impressive, those early adopters will like it and this will be the start of a big shift towards AR/VR devices being normalised. The naysayers in the comments apparently have not been paying attention for the past 15 years.

hummelm10

I think just Apple doing it all will push other companies to it. Hate it or love it Apple has a lot of push in the industry. It helps that the tech in these seems to be way way past anything else available.

markdecesare621

Disregard both price and desire to buy this first version. Just like the iPhone and Apple Watch, the first gen is more of a model than a fine tuned product. The iPhone didn’t release with an App Store. The first watch wasn’t even part of the S series. I guarantee there will be a cheaper version in a few years that is considered the “lite” version, yet still more powerful than the gen one version.

untetheredocelot

Think about this like the original Oculus, it's a dev kit. I wanna see if it lives up to the hype. If it does, shit will get cheaper.

GreatBigJerk

The original Oculus dev kit cost $300.

People endlessly shit on Airpods Max for the same reasons. Sold like hot cakes. People think they have a better pulse on marketing and tech than a 2 trillion dollar company…

Peteskies

Lots of cynics on here. As someone who doesn't like or own anything Apple (and owns a Valve Index), I think this device is a huge step forward that VR desperately needs. Yes it's expensive - priced like a high-end laptop - but the tech specs justify the price... like a high-end laptop. It is standalone with dual 4k screens, cameras everywhere, high performance chips, and a third screen able to see through both sides (bigger than people realize - taking on and off a headset as a social courtesy is a huge pain in the ass), with controller support for gaming. It also features a considerable amount of proprietary software. Whether it's THE step forward the technology needs to take off is unknown but I think Jobs would be proud. Your turn Valve.

Caboozel

I’m waiting for Valves next headset before I make a choice, as well as what gaming experiences will come to the EyeMac before I make a decision but this is actual future cyberpunk shit. Like the amount of technology in this thing and the possibilities are fucking crazy. It’s a sci-fi hud, and it can only get better. Sure some people will call it goofy and niche but the fact that something like this even exists is insane to me. Real time navigation hud for gps Accessibility for disabled persons 3D camera for recording environment with LiDAR scanning Overlay for various repairs/show where underground pipes and power lines are. Like there are just so many use cases outside of being a personal theater and workspace and I really like that stuff despite people calling it dystopian and isolating. Pure. Future. Shit. But I ain’t paying 3500 lol

rollobones

Doubt I would buy one but I can’t lie I really want the opportunity to at least try one out

[deleted]

Anyone have an extra $3500 lying around? Asking for a friend

MrsCastillo12

Actually excited about this one. Looks really cool - very futuristic. Edit: Saw the price... I'm good. Still cool, but I guess too cool for me.

williamtbash

It looks cool until the $4000 after tax price tag.

FrontwaysLarryVR

It's a development kit, basically. This is their "Pro" model too, so just let it cook and see what happens. My guess is the non-pro version will come in a year or two and cost around $1500 to $2500, then come down further with other hardware manufacturers copying.

chargedcapacitor

There is a not-insignificant population of guys who spend all their disposable income on PC's, hifi audio, home theatre, and other high dollar tech. As long as this VR headset solves the latency issue, screen resolution and refresh rate issues, and doesn't have any unforeseen bugs / comfort issues, it will sell like hotcakes.

FrontwaysLarryVR

Yuuuup. And this tech will also be copied and sold for cheaper by other companies, probably Samsung or Meta first (as far as the exclusive features here go). Devs will have it in their hands, but also passionate fans with money ot burn that'll shareit with their friends. Few wouldn't be willing to at least *try* it, and at that point they realize it's cool and that once the price comes down it'll be great. Heck, if they add in a slot for a SIM card for mobile connectivity, people might lose their minds with it.

PeroPedala

If half of their trailer turns out to be real this is a fucking game changer.

Dalvenjha

“The iPad is just a big iPhone” wow, Reddit doesn’t learn, right?

DarthBuzzard

Very excited to see that the reverse passthrough feature rumor was indeed real. People being able to see your eyes and you being able to see them as they get close will fix the isolation that people have always said is an unsolvable problem, at least if the quality is good enough. There are very few unsolvable problems with this tech - they just require novel solutions. The avatars are about what I expected from the rumors. They aim for a kind of uncanny realism - truly photorealistic avatars are more like a 2030 feature. I really wish they would have demoed a one on one avatar FaceTime call instead of showing off the standard 2D FaceTime. $3499 is a very tough pill to swallow, but Apple isn't lying when this is the most advanced consumer electronics device ever built. Hopefully the rumored 2025 lower-end headset is affordable enough in Apple terms.

SnowMountainsBeach36

Watching movies on this is going to be sick.

CharlesBrooks

I want this to completely replace my computer's monitors. I love the idea of being able to work on enormous screens anywhere (I'm a photographer). I get tired of sitting at the same desk because that's where my monitors are... Let me edit on a 40 inch screen while I'm chilling in a hammock and I'll be extremely happy.

currently__working

The Apple Scuba Goggles...selling for the low low price of $3500

DevAway22314

Ski goggles, as the article describes them, is more accurate. Scuba goggles always cover the nose

diwayth_fyr

Scrolled through this thread to get others impressions, ragequit over endless whines "$3500? lmao apple fanboys are such suckers" Do any of you know how much micro-oled displays cost? How much pancake lenses cost? All the fucking sensors and custom silicon?

BrewKazma

Seriously. There is an epic shit ton of tech in here.

E_D_D_R_W

There's a difference between saying "The cost is unreasonably high for the components within" and saying "The cost is too high for me to justify buying it, given the known use cases"

LittleRickyPemba

Wow, they actually made AR work and not in some shitty Hololens way.
