Came out the year I was born, and it was still the first video game I ever got. I remember vividly the day my Dad told me we were going to get a Nintendo.
1994? For me that leaves me to choose between Doom II, Marathon, and System Shock. TES: Arena was released then too but that's not gonna make my favorite.
I think maybe Marathon, honestly.
Really? That's the only one you noticed? 2001 was full of classics. Ico, GTA III, Halo: Combat Evolved, Super Smash Bros. Melee and many more. Personally, I would say that this was one of the strongest years in gaming we ever had.
Well, I don't have a favourite game from 1975, but the following events happened:

I guess I'll have to go with a game recognized as the ancestor of first-person shooters.
I give you: [Maze War!](https://imgur.com/a/uKj2mzR)
Also in 1973:
Konami was launched for the purpose of creating arcade games.
Taito entered the video game industry, opening a branch in America.
Sega launched, with their first forays being Pong (also released in 1973) clones.
[Lemonade Stand](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lemonade_Stand?wprov=sfla1) is created.
Some of the earliest burgeoning steps of an industry we've all come to love 🙂
Rarely see Kingdom Hearts acknowledgment..W in itself🙏. Kingdom Hearts 2 ofc, and me being an avid Sonic Fan, Sonic and the Secret Rings and Super Mario Galaxy 1
Favorite game of my birth year? That's a toss up between the Original Legend of Zelda, or the original Metroid
Though these only released in Japan in 86. They'd come stateside in 87 after I turned 1
Um...it'd probably be a pinball table. There would be been very few video games from back then and they would have been mostly at universities and not for general consumption.
I did play a later version of Trek that I think was floating around back then, as well as various text adventures, which also has roots to that time period. At home we had Pong, which came out 2 years before I was born but that mostly at on the closet.
When I was little I was in and out of my local video club to renting games, I always saw GOW 1 and didn’t like the box art etc, that was until when a friend of mine had a copy at his house and fired it up, I sat there to watch thinking the game wouldn’t be for me…Oh boy was I wrong, long story short after like 10 minutes i was so hooked I couldn’t think of anything else other than I had to acquire a copy, mind you GOW 2 had been released not long ago, i played the living shit out of 1 then found out that my cousin had a copy of the second game and we played and played and played, ever since I have been a die hard fan of the series my god what a journey it has been, sorry for yapping you just reminded me of my childhood
Mario Bros. Arcade machine. Came out the year I was born and happens to be the first game I ever played when I was about 5 or 6. I still remember the day I played it.
The Sims, 2000. I used to play Sims 1 then Sims 2 all the time on my neighbour's PC. Then I got my own PC and played Sims 2 on it. I still play Sims 3 and 4 (mostly 3) on Steam, I wish Sims 2 was also on Steam.
2009. Memorable ones for me were Minecraft, Madworld, Wii Fit Plus, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Mario & Luigi Bowser's Inside Story, and Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Winter Games.
Me personally , it has to be a PS2 game called "gauntlet dark legacy" a really old game I played as a kid and I really wanna find it again. Not exactly my birth year but , still an absolute gem of a game
Tbh I haven’t played a game released on my birth year. Maybe a little bit of Suikoden but that’s it.
I think most people will say Chrono Trigger though.
Both Crash Bandicoot 2 and Final Fantasy VII came out in 1997, so it’s one of those two for sure. I still play both of those today and enjoy them just as much as I did as a kid
Super Mario Bros 3, 1988
Classics never got old
88 gang checking in
The Infamous E.T
My condolences lol. That game almost singlehandedly sunk the video game industry right when it was getting its feet under it.
Well only in the US but to be fair, that's a big market.
We also had Ms pac man. Which you can still find at arcades everywhere.
...r/FuckImOld
Yeah. Just looked up the list and had only played asteroids from that year.
51 games for me in 1981! Softporn Adventure must have been a little ahead of it’s time.
Or was it 😉
‘83 here. I guess Mario Bros., but it wasn’t really my favorite game.
It’s a game I played a lot when I was a kid: Combat. God, I’m old 😕
Same here. But overall it looks like 77 wasn't a good year even for Atari games. Not many I recognize.
Super Mario bros on nes
Came out the year I was born, and it was still the first video game I ever got. I remember vividly the day my Dad told me we were going to get a Nintendo.
Tough choice. Gotta be Frogger or Donkey Kong.
Another ‘81 baby?
That's me
Another '81 here. My favorite is Raiders of the Lost Ark (Atari 2600)
Bah, not tried that one yet. I'll add it to the backlog!
BTW what an amazing for games. Galaga, Yar's Revenge... all fantastic.
Yep! GALAGA and Donkey Kong for me!
1994? For me that leaves me to choose between Doom II, Marathon, and System Shock. TES: Arena was released then too but that's not gonna make my favorite. I think maybe Marathon, honestly.
Legend of Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link.
Super Mario world (1990)
Had to look up games made in my birth year and the only ones I notice are Silent Hill 2
Really? That's the only one you noticed? 2001 was full of classics. Ico, GTA III, Halo: Combat Evolved, Super Smash Bros. Melee and many more. Personally, I would say that this was one of the strongest years in gaming we ever had.
Best survival horror ever 😎
With Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem right behind it.
Super Mario world 1990 baby

Boy, after a quick glance 89 does not seem to be a great year for gaming. I guess I would have to go with Castlevania 3.
River City Ransom! One of the all time great NES games. My friend and I would play it endlessly in those days.
What came out in 2005?
A [_lot_](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005_in_video_games?wprov=sfla1) of good stuff.
Resident evil 4
That was a great year for gaming.
Literally THE best year for gaming, dmc3, re4, gow1 etc.

Super Mario World, 1990
But.. but Kingdom Hearts II was just released 5 years ago!
Um...it'd probably be a pinball table. There would be been very few video games from back then and they would have been mostly at universities and not for general consumption. Probably Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Chrono Trigger could also be a candidate, but I haven't played it yet.
Man, thats the easiest answer. My favorite game of all times was released the same year I was born, so... Castlevania Symphony of the night, 1997
Metal Gear Solid
Super Mario Bros
The Curse of Monkey Island
Either Tomb Raider II, Diablo or Tekken 3.
Either Tomb Raider II, Diablo or Tekken 3.
Either Tomb Raider II, Diablo or Tekken 3.
Battle for Bikini Bottom
For this I will get much hate. It's Secret of Mana. Doom is overrated

A very tough choice... possibly Call of Duty 3 or New Super Mario Bros? It's really hard to choose a favorite
Resident Evil 2.
Asteroids I guess
The Sims, 2000. I used to play Sims 1 then Sims 2 all the time on my neighbour's PC. Then I got my own PC and played Sims 2 on it. I still play Sims 3 and 4 (mostly 3) on Steam, I wish Sims 2 was also on Steam.

Apparently WoW and Pikmin 2, great games
Super Mario 64, 1996.
Man I never realized these two jewels came out the same year.
Lego Batman: the video game. I could barely find any game from the year I was born that I’ve actually played, so Lego Batman it is
Tbh I haven’t played a game released on my birth year. Maybe a little bit of Suikoden but that’s it. I think most people will say Chrono Trigger though.
Star Wars: Jedi Knight II - Jedi Outcast
Both Crash Bandicoot 2 and Final Fantasy VII came out in 1997, so it’s one of those two for sure. I still play both of those today and enjoy them just as much as I did as a kid

You forgot the biggest game of that year by FAR. World of warcraft.
I've actually played no games from my birth year.

Super Mario 64! (1996)
Made a year before I was born but whatever. The original Bioshock has got to be #1
