Yeah and for some reason teams don't fit endurance lights. 30 minutes the race is dark af and no one cares lol. At least the older cars had the option to not fit the full endurance kit and only a small light upgrade but it was still better than using the sprint headlights.
I agree with another commenter about it being awful for fans starting at midnight. Bathurst starting at 4 or 5am is ideal because its still dark but bright enough to see some action at the start and theres still action once the sun is up. Same when at the end of the race. Also it makes for some stunning pictures.
It would be absolutely awful for fans both at the track and at home lmao. The most exciting parts of a race are usually the beginning and the end.
Can you imagine traveling to a race track, setting up camp and then having to wait until midnight for race start? Exposed to the elements?
You would be either absolutely miserable or blackout drunk by the time the race starts. Then you wouldn't see shit for the exciting first laps (watching race cars at night is cool, but you only see blinding lights, really).
And then in order to catch the finale you'd have to do the same thing all over again...
Well 1000 milhas de São Paulo traditional starts at midnight. It's either 1000 miles or 12 hours of racing. There are some pretty wild car like this

That would be pretty crap for teams and drivers, and even worse of race officials and marshals. It would be over 2 days straight work for them with nearly no sleep. With a more normal afternoon start, it's at least down to 1.5.
Big pass for me as a marshal.
Usually our day starts around 0700. I can't imagine an organiser not making use of the daylight hours to do support races. So race days would mean 41hrs of shifts...

There used to be a 12 hour race at Reims starting at midnight
Probably bad for viewership

The batburst 13h traditionally starts in the dark. But the sunrises like 15 minutes later ....
Sunrise is actually 45 minutes after race start, but it's definitely light 15 minutes after the start
